Washington County, Utah —

**What is happening:** The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has extended a flash flood warning for south-central Washington County in southwestern Utah, in effect through 3:45 AM MDT Tuesday. At 1:43 AM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges showed thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

**Local impacts:** Forecasters describe life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, dry washes, and low-water crossings. Water is moving fast through normally dry drainages in the south-central part of the county.

**What to do:**

- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown.

- Stay away from washes and low water crossings overnight.

- Keep weather alerts on while you sleep.

- If you are in a low-lying area, move to higher ground.
