Flash Flood Warning for the Paria River Through 12:15 PM

# Flash Flood Warning for the Paria River Through 12:15 PM
**Coconino County, Arizona —** The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the Paria River in Coconino County in north central Arizona, in effect until 12:15 PM CDT. The warning was issued at 6:16 AM CDT after a river gauge near US-89 in southern Utah reported the Paria River jumped three feet in a short time.
**What is happening:** Strong thunderstorms that moved over the Paria River on Sunday have sent a fast-rising surge of water down the river. Flash flooding is ongoing, and floodwater will keep moving downstream — reaching the confluence with the Colorado River at Lees Ferry between 12 PM and 2 PM CDT.
**Local impacts:** Life-threatening flash flooding in and around the Paria River. Slot canyons and narrow river corridors fill first and fastest; washes and creeks downstream will run high and dangerous.
**What to do:**
- Get out of the Paria River slot canyon now — floodwater is coming downstream.
- If you are camping or hiking anywhere near a wash or creek, get out of the drainage immediately.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
