Flash Flood Warning for Taylor County, Texas Through 3:30 AM

# Flash Flood Warning for Taylor County, Texas Through 3:30 AM

**Northeastern Taylor County, Texas —** The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northeastern Taylor County in west central Texas through 3:30 AM CDT Thursday.

**What is happening:** At 12:31 AM CDT, Doppler radar showed thunderstorms dumping heavy rain across northeastern Taylor County — up to 2 inches in some spots so far, with up to 1 more inch possible. Flash flooding is happening now or will begin shortly.

**Local impacts:** Small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses, and other low-lying and poor-drainage areas will flood. Abilene, Tye, Buffalo Gap, Dyess Air Force Base, Potosi, Hamby and Kirby Lake are in the warned area, including Interstate 20 between mile markers 275 and 292.

**What to do:**

- Turn around, don't drown — never drive on flooded roads. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Be extra cautious at night, when it is harder to recognize flood dangers.

- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
