Flash Flood Warning for Southern Oklahoma Through 3:45 AM
# Flash Flood Warning for Southern Oklahoma Through 3:45 AM
**Ardmore, Okla. —** Slow-moving thunderstorms are dropping torrential rain across southern Oklahoma early this morning, and the National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Carter, Johnston, Love, Marshall, and Murray counties through 3:45 AM CDT.
**What is happening:** Doppler radar showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the warned area just before 1 AM. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, and another 1 to 3 inches could come down before the night is over. Flash flooding is already underway in some spots and is expected to begin shortly in others.
**Local impacts:** Small creeks and streams will rise quickly, and urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses — along with other low-lying and poor-drainage spots — are at risk of flooding. Towns in the warning include Ardmore, Sulphur, Madill, Davis, Marietta, Lone Grove, Healdton, Wilson, Dickson, Mannsville, Springer, Thackerville, Dougherty, Gene Autry, Leon, Overbrook, Lake Murray, Milo, Turner Falls, and Burneyville.
**What to do:**
- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown.
- Most flood deaths happen in vehicles, so do not try to cross water covering the road.
- Be extra careful after dark, when it is much harder to spot flood dangers.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
