A digital news alert for a flash flood warning in Washington County, Utah.

Washington County, Utah —

**What is happening:**

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southeastern Washington County through 11:15 AM CT. Doppler radar shows thunderstorms dropping heavy rain, with between half an inch and three-quarters of an inch already down and up to another inch possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or about to start.

**Local impacts:**

The weather service calls this life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. La Verkin and Virgin are in the warned area.

**What to do:**

- Turn around, don't drown when you encounter flooded roads. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Stay alert for flooding even where it is not raining — dry washes and streams can turn into raging currents in minutes from rain miles away.
