South Central Catron County, NM — The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Flash Flood Warning for south central Catron County, in effect until 2:00 AM MDT.
## What is happening:
Thunderstorms are producing heavy rain across south central Catron County. At 9:57 PM MDT, Doppler radar showed up to an inch and a quarter of rain had already fallen, with as much as another two inches possible before the rain moves out. Flash flooding is happening now or will start very soon in the warned area.
## Local impacts:
Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, along with urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and any low-lying or poor-drainage spots. Water can rise fast in canyons and dry washes.
## What to do:
- Turn around, don't drown. If a road is flooded, do not drive across it — most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- Be extra careful after dark. It is much harder to spot rising water at night.
- Move to higher ground if water starts rising around you.
