Flash Flood Warning for Snyder and Surrounding Communities Through 4:15 PM

# Flash Flood Warning for Snyder and Surrounding Communities Through 4:15 PM
**Snyder, Texas —** A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for Borden County and western Scurry County in west-central Texas, running through 4:15 PM CDT today, issued by the National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa.
**What is happening:** At 1:46 PM CDT, Doppler radar showed thunderstorms pouring heavy rain over the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen so far, and flash flooding is ongoing or about to start. Communities in the path include Snyder, Fluvanna, Knapp, Ira, Randalls Corner, Winston Field, and the J B Thomas Reservoir area. This is an updated continuation of the warning — the danger has not passed.
**Local impacts:** The Weather Service calls this life-threatening flash flooding — creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses can flood fast. Low-water crossings and dips in rural roads are the most dangerous spots.
**What to do:**
- Turn around, don't drown. Never drive through flooded roads — most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
- Stay aware of rising water around you; if you see water rising, get to higher ground immediately.
- Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement when you can do so safely, and ask them to pass it on to the National Weather Service.
