**San Bernardino County, California —** Flash floodwaters are already on the move along the I-40 corridor in the Mojave Desert, and the National Weather Service has put San Bernardino County under a Flash Flood Warning until 9:15 PM PDT.

**What is happening:** The Weather Service office in Las Vegas issued the warning after radar showed thunderstorms lingering across the desert between Amboy and Goffs late Monday afternoon. Flooding has already been spotted by the California Highway Patrol near Goffs Road and I-40, and forecasters say more flooding could develop near Amboy tonight. Mitchell Caverns, Essex, Amboy, and stretches of Highway 95 and I-40 are in the warning area.

**Local impacts:** This is life-threatening flash flooding — fast-moving water in creeks and streams, urban flooding, and water over highways, streets, and underpasses. Normally dry desert washes can fill without warning and turn into raging torrents.

**What to do:**

- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Stay out of washes and low desert crossings tonight.

- If water starts rising where you are, get to higher ground right away.
