Randall County, TX — Overnight storms are dumping heavy rain across Randall County, and the National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a Flash Flood Warning in effect through 3:30 AM CDT Saturday.

What is happening: At 1:12 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges showed thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen, with up to another inch possible before the warning ends. Flash flooding is happening now or about to begin in parts of the county.

Local impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, along with other low-lying and poor-drainage spots. Areas expected to see flooding include Canyon, Umbarger, Mescalero Park, and Buffalo Lake.

What to do:

- Never drive through a flooded road — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Stay extra cautious overnight, when it is harder to see flood dangers.

- Keep an eye on your surroundings and avoid flooded streets and underpasses.
