**Philadelphia, PA —** A FlashFlood Warning is in effect for Philadelphia and east-central Delaware County in southeastern Pennsylvania through 5:45 AM Monday, October 12.

**What is happening:** The National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, New Jersey issued the warning at 2:38 AM after Doppler radar picked up thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen, and rainfall rates are running 1 to 2 inches per hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or about to begin.

**Local impacts:** Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, city streets, highways, underpasses and other low-lying, poor-drainage spots. Places in the path include Philadelphia, Yeadon, Folcroft, Swarthmore, East Lansdowne, South Philadelphia, Roxborough, Center City, Darby Township, Kensington and Philadelphia International Airport. Highways affected include Interstate 476, Interstate 76, Interstate 95 and Interstate 676 through the Philadelphia area.

**What to do:**

- Turn around, don't drive through flooded roads. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
