Flash Flood Warning for Pecos and Terrell Counties Through 4:15 AM
# Flash Flood Warning for Pecos and Terrell Counties Through 4:15 AM
**Sanderson, Texas —** The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has issued a Flash Flood Warning for east-central Pecos County and northeastern Terrell County through 4:15 AM Thursday.
**What is happening:** Thunderstorms producing heavy rain are moving through far southwestern Texas. At 1:09 AM, radar showed between half an inch and an inch and a half of rain had already fallen, and another half-inch to inch and a half is possible before sunrise. Flash flooding is already happening or about to begin.
**Local impacts:** Desert draws, low-water crossings, and stretches of rural road can go under water fast in this kind of storm. Small streams and normally dry washes may run high with little warning.
**What to do:**
- Turn around, don't drown — never drive through flooded roads. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- Be extra careful at night, when it is harder to judge how deep water really is.
- If you come to a flooded road, back up and find another way.
