**UPDATE — Monday, September 28, 8:06 PM CT:** Light to moderate rain is still falling across northern Mohave County and Short Creek remains flooded — road closures are still in place for roads crossing Short Creek. The warning runs through 7:45 PM MST.

Northern Mohave County, Arizona — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northern Mohave County, with heavy thunderstorms bearing down on the Colorado City area this evening.

What is happening:

NWS Las Vegas issued the warning at 4:49 PM MST, and it is in effect through 7:45 PM MST. Doppler radar showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain right over Colorado City — between a quarter and three-quarters of an inch has already come down. Flash flooding is either underway or expected to begin shortly.

Local impacts:

Life-threatening flash flooding is possible in creeks and streams, and across urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. Colorado City is directly in the path of the hardest rain.

What to do:

- Turn around and don't drown — never drive through flooded roadways.

- Most flood deaths happen in vehicles; back up and reroute instead.

- Campers and hikers should steer clear of streams and creeks and know where high ground is.
