Flash Flood Warning for Northern Kentucky Through 1:30 PM

# Flash Flood Warning for Northern Kentucky Through 1:30 PM
Maysville, Kentucky — A new Flash Flood Warning is in effect for northern Kentucky this morning, where thunderstorms have already dropped up to 2 and a half inches of rain and more water is on the way.
**What is happening:** The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio issued the warning at 10:28 AM Eastern for east-central Bracken County and northwestern Mason County, and it runs until 1:30 PM Eastern. Radar and automated rain gauges show thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area — 1 to 2.5 inches have already fallen, with up to another half inch possible. Flash flooding is happening now or will start shortly.
**Local impacts:** Flash flooding is expected on small creeks and streams, in urban areas, and on highways, streets, and underpasses, along with other low-lying and poor-drainage spots. Communities that could see flooding include Dover, Germantown, Minerva, Tuckahoe, and Stoney Point. Even a small amount of extra rain can push low-water crossings over quickly in this kind of setup.
**What to do:**
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Turn around, don't drown — never drive across a flooded road. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- Avoid underpasses and low-water crossings, which flood first.
- Report flash flooding to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
