**What is happening:** As of 10:50 PM HST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges show heavy rain falling over northern Kauai at 1 to 2 inches per hour. Flash flooding is happening now or will begin very soon across the northern half of the island, where the warning remains in effect through 1:45 AM HST.
**Local impacts:** Flash flooding is a threat to small creeks and streams, highways, streets, underpasses, and other poor-drainage and low-lying areas. Places expected to see flooding include Kapaa, Princeville, Kilauea, Hanalei, Wainiha, Haena, Wailua and Wailua Homesteads, along with the Alakai Swamp Trails, North Fork Wailua Trails, Na Pali State Park and Kokee State Park. If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
**What to do:**
- Turn around, don't drown — never drive across a flooded road. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
