Flash Flood Warning for Mohave County and Clark County Through 4:00 PM

Breaking news alert graphic for flash flood warning in Nevada.

Mohave County, Arizona and Clark County, Nevada — A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for portions of northwest Arizona and southern Nevada until 4:00 PM PDT this afternoon, issued by the National Weather Service in Las Vegas.

What is happening: Doppler radar is tracking slow-moving thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between half an inch and an inch of rain has already fallen, and flash flooding is either happening now or is about to begin. The warning covers communities along the Colorado River corridor including Searchlight, Cottonwood Cove, Hoover Dam, Cal-Nev-Ari and Temple Bar Campground.

Local impacts: Life-threatening flash flooding is possible in creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. The National Weather Service warns that slot canyons, normally dry washes and campgrounds near the river are especially dangerous right now.

What to do:

- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Stay out of low-lying areas, washes and underpasses until the warning expires.

- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

- Report observed flooding to local emergency services so it reaches the National Weather Service.
