Flash Flood Warning for Mohave and Clark Counties Through 7:45 PM CT
Bullhead City, Arizona — A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for west central Mohave County in northwestern Arizona and south central Clark County in southern Nevada through 7:45 PM CT Friday, as thunderstorms drop heavy rain over the Colorado River communities.
What is happening:
The National Weather Service in Las Vegas issued the warning Friday afternoon after Doppler radar showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to an inch of rain has already fallen, and forecasters say flash flooding is underway or expected to begin shortly. The warning runs until 5:45 PM PDT, which is 7:45 PM CT.
Local impacts:
Forecasters warn of life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, along with flooding in urban areas, on highways, streets, and in underpasses. Places in the warned area include Bullhead City, Laughlin, Katherine Landing, the Big Bend Recreation Area, Mesquite Creek, Oatman, and Mohave Valley.
What to do:
- Never drive through a flooded road. Turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- If water starts rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Stay away from creeks, streams, washes, and underpasses during the warning.
- Do not walk through moving water. Even shallow, fast-moving water can knock you off your feet.
If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
