Flash Flood Warning for Mohave and Clark Counties Through 4:00 PM

Searchlight, Nev. — A Flash Flood Warning covers west-central Mohave County in northwestern Arizona and southeastern Clark County in southern Nevada until 4:00 PM PDT Sunday, as slow-moving thunderstorms dump heavy rain across the desert.
What is happening: At 1:01 PM PDT, Doppler radar showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between half an inch and an inch has already come down, and flash flooding is underway or about to begin. The National Weather Service in Las Vegas issued the warning.
Local impacts: The flooding threat runs along the Colorado River corridor — Searchlight, Cottonwood Cove and the Cottonwood Cove Campground, Hoover Dam, Cal-Nev-Ari, Temple Bar and the Temple Bar Campground, and Willow Beach. Creeks and streams, city streets, highways and underpasses can all flood with little warning. The Weather Service rates the flooding threat life-threatening.
What to do:
- Turn around, don't drown — most flood deaths happen in vehicles, so never drive into flooded roads.
- Stay out of washes and low crossings; if water is rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Report flooding to local emergency services when it is safe to do so.
