Flash Flood Warning for Martin County Through 10:45 AM

Martin County, Texas — The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has issued a Flash Flood Warning for central Martin County in western Texas, in effect through 10:45 AM Central Time on Friday, October 30.
What is happening: Trained weather spotters reported heavy showers dropping between 1 and 2 inches of rain across the warned area Friday morning, with several roads already under water in Stanton. Flash flooding is already occurring, and up to an additional inch of rain is possible before the warning ends.
Local impacts: Small creeks and streams in central Martin County are flooding, and low-lying roads around Stanton are going under water. More heavy rain on already saturated ground can send water across roadways quickly, even where the road looks passable at first glance.
What to do:
- Turn around, do not drown. Never drive through a flooded road.
- Stay aware of your surroundings and keep clear of flooded roadways.
- If you see flooding, report it to local emergency services or law enforcement when you can do so safely.
