Flash Flood Warning for Martin and St. Lucie Counties Through 6:30 PM EST

Martin County, Florida — The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northern Martin County and southeastern St. Lucie County in east central Florida, in effect until 6:30 PM EST.
What is happening:
Thunderstorms have dropped between 4 and 8 inches of rain across the warned area, and Doppler radar shows heavy rain still falling. Another 2 to 4 inches of rain is possible, and flash flooding is already underway or expected to begin shortly.
Local impacts:
Roads and low-lying areas in northern Martin County and southeastern St. Lucie County are at risk of flash flooding. Fast-rising water can cover roadways quickly, and the danger is harder to spot after dark.
What to do:
- Turn around, don't drown. Never drive through flooded roads.
- Stay aware of your surroundings and avoid low-lying areas near streams and drainage channels.
- Be especially cautious at night, when it is harder to recognize flooded roadways.
