# Flash Flood Warning for Maricopa County Through 9:00 AM MST

Maricopa County, AZ —

**What is happening:** The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a flash flood warning for Maricopa County until 9:00 AM MST. Doppler radar showed thunderstorms dumping heavy rain across the area just before 6 AM, and flash flooding is either underway or about to begin, especially along State Route 238 between Maricopa and Gila Bend. Estrella, Sonoran National Monument, and Bosque are inside the warned area.

**Local impacts:** This is a life-threatening flood event — creeks and streams can rise fast, and flood water can swamp city streets, highways, and underpasses with little warning.

**What to do:**

- Never drive through flooded roads — most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Turn around, don't drown. Find another route.

- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

- Stay away from underpasses and low-water crossings.
