Flash Flood Warning for Los Angeles County Through 2:00 PM

# Flash Flood Warning for Los Angeles County Through 2:00 PM
Los Angeles County, CA — The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a Flash Flood Warning for east-central Los Angeles County through 2:00 PM PDT today.
What is happening: Thunderstorms are producing heavy rain at rates of a half-inch to a full inch per hour over the warned area. The warning covers central and southern portions of the Bridge Fire burn scar, where there is little ground cover left to slow runoff. Flash flooding is either underway or expected to begin shortly. Rock slides, mud slides, and minor debris flows are possible.
Local impacts: Flash flooding is hitting small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. Burn scars flood fast — mud and debris can wash across roads with little warning.
What to do:
- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- Avoid the burn scar areas and underpasses while the warning is in effect.
- Follow directions from emergency management, law enforcement, and fire officials.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
