Flash Flood Warning for Lincoln County Through 7:30 PM

A digital news alert for a flash flood warning in Lincoln County, New Mexico.

Lincoln County, NM — A flash flood warning is in effect for Lincoln County in south central New Mexico until 7:30 PM Mountain time, with flash flooding ongoing after heavy rain.

**What is happening:** At 5:26 PM Mountain time, Doppler radar showed the heaviest rain has ended across the warned area, but between 1 and 1.5 inches already fell, and up to another quarter inch is possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

**Local impacts:** Small creeks and streams, urban streets, highways, underpasses and low-lying spots can flood quickly. Even though the heaviest rain has passed, water already on the ground keeps the flood threat alive. If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

**What to do:**

- Turn around, don't drown — never drive through flooded roads. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Watch for sudden flows in arroyos and across low-water crossings, even from rain that fell miles away.

- Do not enter flowing water or water of unknown depth.
