# Flash Flood Warning for Lincoln and Eastern Nebraska Through 1:30 AM
Lincoln, NE — A dangerous flash-flood setup is unfolding around the Lincoln metro tonight. The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southwestern Saunders County, northern Lancaster County and eastern Seward County through 1:30 AM CDT.
## What is happening:
At 10:25 PM CDT, radar showed thunderstorms dumping heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches have already fallen, with rainfall rates of 1.5 to 3 inches an hour and another 2 to 3 inches possible. Forecasters describe this as life-threatening flash flooding — it is ongoing or about to begin.
## Local impacts:
Creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses face life-threatening flooding. Places in the warned area include northwestern Lincoln, Milford, Ceresco, Valparaiso, Malcolm, Garland, Pleasant Dale, Raymond, Davey, Ithaca, the Lincoln Airport area, Emerald, Branched Oak State Recreation Area and Pawnee State Recreation Area.
## What to do:
- Turn around, don't drown: avoid driving through the warned area tonight.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Never try to judge water depth at night — a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.
