Lea County, New Mexico —

**What is happening:** The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has updated a flash flood warning for Lea County, in effect through 3:45 AM MDT Tuesday. At 2:13 AM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is underway or about to begin.

**Local impacts:** Between half an inch and two inches of rain has fallen, with up to another half inch possible. Forecasters warn of flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses across Lea County.

**What to do:**

- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown.

- Avoid underpasses and low-lying streets where water collects.

- Keep weather alerts on through the night.

- Move to higher ground if flooding threatens your location.
