# Flash Flood Warning for King and Stonewall Counties Through 5:00 PM
**Southeastern King County, Texas —** The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southeastern King County and northeastern Stonewall County in northwestern Texas, in effect until 5:00 PM CDT today.
**What is happening:** At 2:07 PM CDT, Doppler radar showed slow-moving thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have already fallen, and another 1 to 2 inches could come down before the storms clear out. Flash flooding is happening now or could begin any minute. The warned area is mostly rural country across southeastern King and northeastern Stonewall counties.
**Local impacts:** Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, along with urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying spots with poor drainage. Roads through low-water crossings can go under quickly.
**What to do:**
- Turn around, don't drown — never drive through flooded roads. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- Be aware of your surroundings and avoid driving on any flooded roadway.
- If you can do so safely, report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and ask them to pass it on to the National Weather Service.
