Kane County, Utah —

**What is happening:** The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has updated a flash flood warning for Kane County, in effect through 4:00 AM MDT Tuesday. At 12:47 AM MDT, the river gauge at US-89 on the Paria River reported a large flood wave over 3,000 cubic feet per second moving down the drainage. Life-threatening flash flooding is underway.

**Local impacts:** Forecasters warn of life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, and slickrock areas. Areas in the path include the Paria River downstream to the Arizona border and Wahweap Creek downstream to Lake Powell, including US Route 89 near the river.

**What to do:**

- Stay away from the Paria River and Wahweap Creek corridors overnight.

- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown.

- Campers: move to higher ground immediately.

- Keep weather alerts on while you sleep.
