Flash Flood Warning for Holmes County Through 9:30 AM

Central Holmes County, Mississippi — A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for central Holmes County through 9:30 AM Central Time on Sunday, November 1, after thunderstorms dropped heavy rain across the area.
What is happening: The National Weather Service in Jackson issued the warning at 6:35 AM Central Time. Doppler radar showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain over central Holmes County, with between 3 and 4 inches of rain already fallen. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour, and another 2 to 4 inches of rain is possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Local impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses is possible. Roads in low-lying areas and near creeks can flood quickly, and water levels can rise fast during heavy downpours.
What to do: Turn around, don't drown — never drive through a flooded road. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Move to higher ground if water starts rising near you. Stay tuned to the National Weather Service and TNW News for updates.
