Gurabo, Puerto Rico — The National Weather Service in San Juan has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Gurabo, Juncos and Las Piedras in Puerto Rico, in effect until 5:00 PM Atlantic time today.
What is happening:
Thunderstorms are producing heavy rain across the warned area. Doppler radar showed between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have already fallen, with another 1 to 2 inches possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Local impacts:
Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. The warning covers Gurabo, Juncos and Las Piedras.
What to do:
Turn around, do not drown when you come to a flooded road. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
Never drive through flooded roadways. The water may be deeper than it looks, and the road underneath may be gone.
Move to higher ground right away if water starts rising around you.
