Safford, AZ —

**What is happening:** The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Graham and Greenlee Counties in southeastern Arizona, in effect until 9:15 PM Mountain time tonight. At 4:14 PM, radar showed thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the warned area. Up to an inch and a half has already fallen, and another half-inch is possible. Flash flooding is happening or about to begin.

**Local impacts:** Small creeks and washes are filling fast. Expect flooding on highways, streets, underpasses, and low-lying poor-drainage spots. The warning covers much of Graham and Greenlee counties, including the Safford area.

**What to do:**

- Turn around, don't drown. Never drive through flooded roads.

- Most flood deaths happen in vehicles — wait it out or find another route.

- Do not walk through flowing water.

- If water is rising where you are, get to higher ground immediately.
