Gila County, Arizona —

**What is happening:**

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for the Sycamore Burn Scar in Gila County through 10:00 AM CT, issued by the National Weather Service in Phoenix. Doppler radar tracked thunderstorms dropping heavy rain over the burn scar, with about three-quarters of an inch already down. Flash flooding is ongoing or could start at any moment.

**Local impacts:**

The weather service calls this life-threatening flash flooding in and around the Sycamore Burn Scar. Burn scars shed water fast, so severe debris flows can rush across roads with little warning. Roads and driveways may wash away in places. Mainly rural parts of Gila County are in the path.

**What to do:**

- Never drive through flooded roads. Turn around, don't drown — most flood deaths happen in cars.

- If floodwater rises around you, climb to safety right away.

- Remember that creeks and washes near a burn scar can surge long after the rain lets up.
