Flash Flood Warning for Garvin, Johnston, Murray and Pontotoc Counties Through 6:15 AM

Southern Oklahoma —


A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Pontotoc County, northern Johnston County, eastern Garvin County and northeastern Murray County through 6:15 AM CDT Thursday.


What is happening: line of thunderstorms producing heavy rain across southern and east central Oklahoma overnight; NWS Norman Doppler radar showed heavy rain continuing at about 3:09 AM; ground saturated in places.


Local impacts: flash flooding of small creeks, urban areas, low roadways; ponding on roads and rising creeks.


What to do: never drive through flooded roads; if you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately; at night watch for water over the road; keep away from creeks and low-water crossings.
