Flash Flood Warning for El Paso County Through 9:00 PM MDT

El Paso, Texas — The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a Flash Flood Warning for central and west central El Paso County in western Texas, in effect until 9:00 PM MDT.
What is happening: Doppler radar shows thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the warned area. Between half an inch and a full inch of rain has already fallen, and up to another inch could come down before the night is over. Flash flooding is happening now or will start shortly.
Local impacts: Small creeks and streams can rise fast. Urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and low-lying spots with poor drainage are all at risk of flooding.
What to do:
- Turn around, don't drown. Never drive through flooded roads.
- Most flood deaths happen in vehicles — it only takes a few inches of fast water to sweep a car away.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Tell local emergency services about any flooding you see, if you can do it safely, and ask them to pass it on to the National Weather Service.
If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
