Breaking news alert for flash floods in Texas counties.

Kingsville, Texas — The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southeastern Duval County, southwestern Jim Wells County and western Kleberg County in south central Texas, in effect until 4:30 PM Central Time today, Sunday, November 8.

What is happening:

Local law enforcement reports flash flooding on Highways 141 and 281 in Kleberg County. Between 5 and 8 inches of rain have fallen across the warned area, and flooding is already happening. No additional rainfall is occurring, but flooding impacts will continue through the afternoon. This is a new warning following an earlier warning for the same counties that expired at 1:15 PM.

Local impacts:

Flash flooding is hitting small creeks and streams, city streets, highways and underpasses, along with other low-lying and poor-drainage areas. Places that will see flash flooding include Kingsville, Premont, Ricardo and the Kingsville Naval Air Station area.

What to do:

Turn around, do not drown. Never drive through a flooded road. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

Stay aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

If water is rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
