Flash Flood Warning for Duval County Through 8:00 AM

Duval County, Texas —
What is happening:
The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southern Duval County in south central Texas, in effect until 8:00 AM CST on Sunday, November 8. Doppler radar and automated rain gauges showed thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the warned area early this morning. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, and another 1 to 3 inches are possible before the rain lets up. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Local impacts:
Flash flooding of small creeks and streams is expected, along with water over low-lying roads and poor-drainage areas. The heaviest rain is falling on ground already soaked by earlier storms, so water can rise fast with little warning.
What to do:
Never drive into a flooded road. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles, and it only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep a car away.
Turn around and find another route if you come to water over the road.
Be extra careful in the dark, when it is much harder to see how deep floodwater really is.
If water starts rising around you, get to higher ground right away and stay there until the water goes down.
