Flash Flood Warning for Duval and Webb Counties Through 8:00 AM

Breaking news alert for flash floods in Texas counties.

Duval County, Texas — Flash flooding is happening right now across parts of southwestern Duval County and southeastern Webb County in South Texas, and the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has a Flash Flood Warning in effect until 8:00 AM CST Sunday.

What is happening:

Thunderstorms are dropping heavy rain across the warned area. Doppler radar and automated rain gauges show between 1 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, and another 2 to 4 inches could fall before the rain lets up. Flash flooding is already underway in places and is expected to begin shortly in others.

The warning covers southwestern Duval County and southeastern Webb County. Communities in the warned area include Oilton, Mirando City, Bruni, Aguilares and Ranchitos Las Lomas. The warning also covers U.S. Highway 59 between mile markers 790 and 816.

Local impacts:

Small creeks and streams are flooding, along with streets, highways, underpasses and low-lying areas with poor drainage. Urban areas in the warned counties are also at risk of flash flooding.

What to do:

Never drive through flooded roads. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

Turn around and find another route if you come to water over the road.

Be extra careful at night, when it is harder to see how deep floodwater really is.

If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

Turn around, do not drown.
