Flash Flood Warning for Coryell and Lampasas Counties Through 9:00 AM

**Gatesville, Texas —** The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Flash Flood Warning for central Coryell County and eastern Lampasas County in central Texas, in effect until 9:00 AM CDT Friday morning.
**What is happening:** At 6:21 AM, Doppler radar showed heavy rain continuing along a line from Lampasas to west of Gatesville to Cranfills Gap. Radar estimates show up to 3 inches of rain has already fallen in a couple of hours, with another 1 to 2 inches possible before the warning expires. Flash flooding is either underway or expected to begin shortly.
**Local impacts:** Flash flooding will hit small creeks and streams first, then spread to city streets, highways, underpasses, and other low-lying or poor-drainage spots. Towns in the warned area include Gatesville, Lampasas, Arnett, Harbin, and Hurst Springs.
**What to do:**
- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- Stay away from creek crossings and low-water bridges.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Keep children and pets away from storm drains and running water.
