Flash Flood Warning for Coconino County Through 9:00 AM MST

Coconino County, Arizona — The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the Havasu Creek basin in Coconino County in north central Arizona, in effect until 9:00 AM MST Tuesday, November 3.

What is happening:

A river gauge on Cataract Creek reported a rapid rise of 5.38 feet early this morning as heavy rain fell far upstream, and a flood wave is now traveling through Cataract Creek and Havasu Creek. Forecasters expect impacts to begin at Supai between 9:00 AM and noon MST, though that timing could shift as new information comes in.

Local impacts:

This is life-threatening flash flooding. Foot bridges in the Supai Campground will be washed out, some campsites will be flooded, and campers may be stranded in portions of the campground.

What to do:

- Campers and hikers should move to higher ground immediately.

- Stay away from creeks and washes — their banks are unstable and unsafe during flooding.

- Never drive through a flooded road. Turn around and find another route.

- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
