Flash Flood Warning for Coconino and Yavapai Counties Through 11:15 AM

Breaking news alert about flash floods in Arizona counties.

Coconino County, Arizona — The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued Flash Flood Warnings for Coconino County in north central Arizona and Yavapai County in west central Arizona, in effect until 11:15 AM MST today, November 1.

What is happening: Heavy rain is falling across the warned area, with between 1.25 and 2.5 inches already measured by radar and automated gauges. Flash flooding is underway or about to begin.

Local impacts: Forecasters warn of life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. Dirt roads will turn muddy and impassable, and paved roads and underpasses could flood as well.

What to do:

- Do not drive on flooded roads. Turn around, do not drown.

- Avoid low water crossings, which turn dangerous fast in heavy rain.

- Stay out of washes and creeks.

- If water is rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
