Flash Flood Warning for Cleveland and Oklahoma Counties Through 4:30 AM

**Central Oklahoma —** The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northwestern Cleveland County and Oklahoma County in central Oklahoma through 4:30 AM Thursday.

What is happening: At 2:32 AM, Doppler radar showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area — the same line of storms parked over the Oklahoma City metro and its south side. Between one and three inches of rain have already fallen, with another half inch possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Local impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. Low-lying neighborhoods and poor-drainage areas are most at risk. Overnight flooding is especially dangerous because it is hard to judge water depth in the dark.

What to do: Turn around, don't drown. Never drive through flooded streets — most flood deaths happen in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night, when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately. Avoid underpasses, which can fill with water faster than surface streets.
