Flash Flood Warning for Central Martin and South Central St. Lucie Counties Through 3:30 PM EST

Martin County, Florida —
What is happening:
The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Flash Flood Warning for central Martin County and south central St. Lucie County in east central Florida. The warning runs through 3:30 PM Eastern Time today, Monday, November 2. Doppler radar at 1:32 PM Eastern showed thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the warned area, and flash flooding is happening now or is expected to start shortly.
Local impacts:
Between 3 and 7 inches of rain have already fallen across the warned area, and another 2 to 4 inches are possible before the rain eases. That much rain in a short time can flood small creeks and streams, city streets, highways, underpasses, and other low-lying spots that drain poorly. Palm City is among the places expected to see flash flooding.
What to do:
Never drive through a flooded road. Turn around and find another way. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles, so do not try to guess how deep the water is. Move to higher ground right away if water starts rising near you. Stay out of creeks, drainage ditches, and underpasses until the warning ends and water has drained away.
