**Meridian, Texas —** The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Flash Flood Warning for central Bosque County in central Texas, in effect until 10:45 AM CDT Friday morning.

**What is happening:** At 7:50 AM, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges showed thunderstorms still pouring heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have already come down, and another 2 inches are possible before the warning ends. Flash flooding is happening now or expected to start very soon. Forecasters also warn that runoff from the Hydra fire burn scar south of Meridian could trigger debris flows on top of the heavy rain.

**Local impacts:** Life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, plus flooded city streets, highways, underpasses, and low-lying areas with poor drainage. If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

**What to do:**

- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Watch for debris and mud coming down near the Hydra fire burn scar south of Meridian.

- Move away from creeks and low spots, and head for higher ground.

- Never walk through flowing water; just six inches of fast-moving water can knock you down.
