Northwestern Castro County and northeastern Parmer County, Texas —

**What is happening:** The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northwestern Castro County and northeastern Parmer County in the Texas Panhandle, in effect through 5:45 AM CDT. Doppler radar at 2:50 AM showed thunderstorms dropping heavy rain over the warned area — 2 to 3 inches have already fallen, with rain coming down at 1 to 1.5 inches per hour and up to another inch possible. Flash flooding is happening now or about to begin.

**Local impacts:** Rapid water rises on roads and in low-lying areas, with more heavy rain on the way. It is nighttime, which makes flooded roads much harder to see and much more dangerous.

**What to do:**

- Turn around if you come to a flooded road — do not try to drive through it

- Most flood deaths happen in vehicles, so never cross water of unknown depth

- Stay alert overnight when flooding is hardest to spot

- Move to higher ground if water starts rising near you
