Flash Flood Warning for Cass and Lancaster Counties Through 3:15 AM
# Flash Flood Warning for Cass and Lancaster Counties Through 3:15 AM
**Cass and Lancaster Counties, Neb. —** Emergency managers report flash flooding is already underway southeast of Ashland, and the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley has issued a Flash Flood Warning for western Cass County and east-central Lancaster County through 3:15 AM CDT.
**What is happening:** At 12:11 AM CDT, emergency management reported ongoing flash flooding southeast of Ashland. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen, and it is still raining at a rate of about an inch an hour. Another half-inch is possible before the rain ends. The warning runs through 3:15 AM CDT.
**Local impacts:** Flash flooding is hitting small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, plus low-lying and poor-drainage spots. Towns in the warning include Eagle, Elmwood, Greenwood, Murdock, Walton, Alvo, South Bend, and Mahon. Because this is an emergency-management report, not just radar, flooding is confirmed — it is already happening.
**What to do:**
- Turn around, don't drown — never drive through flooded roads.
- Most flood deaths happen in vehicles, so do not try to cross water covering the road.
- Be extra careful after dark, when it is much harder to spot flood dangers.
- Stay clear of low-lying areas and keep to high ground.
