Flash Flood Warning for Carter, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, Marshall and Murray Counties Through 10:00 AM

# Flash Flood Warning for Carter, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, Marshall and Murray Counties Through 10:00 AM

**Southern Oklahoma —** The National Weather Service in Norman issued a Flash Flood Warning early Thursday morning for southern and southeastern Oklahoma, covering Carter County, east-central Jefferson County, southern Johnston County, Love County, northwestern Marshall County and southern Murray County. The warning is in effect until 10:00 AM CDT.

**What is happening:** Widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms were dropping heavy rain across the warned area at 6:02 AM CDT, according to NWS Doppler radar. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have already fallen overnight, and flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Some of the communities in the path include Ardmore, Madill, Tishomingo, Davis, Marietta, Lone Grove, Healdton, Wilson, Ringling, Mannsville, Springer, Thackerville, Dougherty, Leon, Overbrook and the Lake Murray area.

**Local impacts:** Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban streets, highways and underpasses, and other poor-drainage and low-lying areas. With the ground already saturated, any additional heavy rain will run off fast.

**What to do:**

- Never drive through flooded roads — most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Turn around, don't drown: find another route when you see water covering the road.

- Avoid low-water crossings, creeks and underpasses, especially in the dark.

- Keep away from streams and drainage areas that can rise quickly.
