# Flash Flood Warning for Caldwell County Through 1:15 PM

**Lenoir, N.C. —** A Flash Flood Warning continues for Caldwell County in western North Carolina until 1:15 PM ET Sunday. The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg updated the warning as high water lingered along area creeks and rivers.

**What is happening:** As of 12:29 PM ET, river gauges show high water along Mulberry Creek and Lower Creek slowly falling this afternoon. The lingering flooding is becoming limited to areas near the Catawba River proper and Lake Rhodhiss. Spots that could still see flooding include Lenoir, Sawmills, Granite Falls, Gamewell, Hudson, Cajah's Mountain, Rhodhiss, Cedar Rock, Lake Rhodhiss, and Lake Hickory.

**Local impacts:** Life-threatening flash flooding remains possible on creeks and streams, in urban areas, and on highways, streets, and underpasses near the rivers. Flooded roads may stay dangerous even as water starts to drop. If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

**What to do:**

- Never drive across a flooded road — turn around, don't drown.

- Keep away from swollen creeks and the riverbanks.

- Do not walk through moving floodwater.

- Watch for washed-out pavement and weakened bridges.
