Flash Flood Warning for Burlington, Monmouth and Ocean Counties Through 11:00 AM
Monmouth County, New Jersey — The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southern Monmouth County, northeastern Burlington County and northern Ocean County in New Jersey, in effect until 11:00 AM EST on Friday, November 6, 2026.
What is happening:
Thunderstorms are dropping heavy rain across the warned area. Doppler radar showed between 1 and 2 inches of rain already down by 6:59 AM, with rain falling at a rate of 1.5 to 2.5 inches an hour. Another 1 to 2 inches could fall before the warning ends. Flash flooding is already happening in places and is expected to begin shortly in others.
Local impacts:
Flash flooding can hit small creeks and streams, city streets, highways, underpasses and low-lying spots that drain poorly. Places in the path include Toms River, Long Branch, Asbury Park, Lakewood, Jackson, Howell, Tinton Falls, Manasquan, Point Pleasant Beach, Lakehurst, Farmingdale and Wrightstown.
What to do:
If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Turn around, do not drown. Never drive through a flooded road. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- Do not walk through floodwater. Six inches of moving water can knock you down.
- Stay away from underpasses and low-lying roads during heavy rain.
- Keep clear of streams and drainage ditches that can rise fast.
