Flash Flood Warning for Brown County Through 8:45 AM

# Flash Flood Warning for Brown County Through 8:45 AM
**Brown County, Texas —** The National Weather Service in San Angelo issued a Flash Flood Warning early Thursday morning for northwestern Brown County in west central Texas, in effect until 8:45 AM CDT.
**What is happening:** Doppler radar showed thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the warned area at 5:48 AM CDT. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have already fallen, with another quarter to a full inch possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Flash flooding means water is rising fast, with little time to react.
**Local impacts:** Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses, plus other low-lying and poor-drainage areas. Areas expected to see flooding include Byrds, May, Lake Brownwood State Park, and Lake Brownwood. Low-water crossings at FM 2273 over Rough Branch and County Road 441 over Bledsoe Branch are at risk.
**What to do:**
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- Be extra cautious at night, when it is harder to see flooding.
- Never try to cross a flooded low-water crossing, no matter how shallow it looks.
