Flash Flood Warning for Broward and Palm Beach Counties Through 5:15 PM ET
Broward County, Florida — The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Broward and Palm Beach counties, in effect until 5:15 PM Eastern Time Saturday.
**What is happening:** As of 4:44 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges showed thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3.5 and 5.5 inches of rain have already fallen, and another 1 to 2 inches are possible before the rain lets up. Flash flooding is happening now in some spots and is expected to start shortly in others.
**Local impacts:** The Weather Service warns of flash flooding of small creeks and streams, plus urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses — along with any low-lying or poor-drainage spots. Communities in the path include Coral Springs, Deerfield Beach, Margate, Coconut Creek, Parkland, Boca Pointe, Boca Del Mar, Mission Bay, Hamptons At Boca Raton, Hillsboro Pines, Hillsboro Ranches, Sandalfoot Cove, and South County Regional Park.
**What to do:**
- Turn around, don't drown. Never drive through flooded roads — most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Stay out of underpasses and low spots where water collects fast.
- If you can do so safely, report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and ask them to pass it to the National Weather Service.
