Flash Flood Warning for Bosque and Hill Counties Through 9:00 AM

Breaking news alert for flash flood warning on a digital screen.

**Meridian, Texas —** The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Flash Flood Warning for central Bosque County and northwestern Hill County in central Texas, in effect until 9:00 AM CDT Friday morning.

**What is happening:** At 6:25 AM, Doppler radar showed heavy rain still falling along a line stretching from Cranfills Gap to Lake Whitney to Covington. Radar estimates show more than 3 inches of rain has already fallen in just a couple of hours, and another 1 to 2 inches could come down before the warning ends. Flash flooding is either happening now or about to begin.

**Local impacts:** Expect flash flooding of small creeks and streams, along with flooded city streets, highways, underpasses, and low-lying or poor-drainage areas. Communities in the path include Clifton, Meridian, Blum, Cranfills Gap, Covington, and Lake Whitney.

**What to do:**

- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

- Move away from creeks and low spots, and head for higher ground.

- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

- Never walk through flowing water; just six inches of fast-moving water can knock you down.
