Flash Flood Warning for Bayamón and Toa Alta Through 5:45 PM

Breaking news alert for flash floods in Puerto Rico.

Bayamón, Puerto Rico — The National Weather Service in San Juan has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Bayamón and Toa Alta in Puerto Rico, in effect until 5:45 PM Atlantic time today, Saturday, November 7.

What is happening:

Thunderstorms are producing heavy rain across the warned area. Doppler radar showed between 1 and 2 inches of rain had already fallen by mid-afternoon, with another 1 to 2 inches possible before the warning ends. Flash flooding is already happening in places and is expected to begin shortly in others.

Local impacts:

Flash flooding can hit small creeks and streams, city streets, highways and underpasses, and other low-lying spots that drain poorly. Water can rise fast in these areas, even where it is not raining hard right now.

What to do:

Turn around, do not drown. Never drive through a flooded road.

If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

Stay out of underpasses and low spots where water collects.

Do not walk through floodwater. Six inches of moving water can knock you down.
